Nova Scotia still has 1,312 immigration spots available for 2025, despite rising demand for its programs. As of August 6, 2025, the province has already filled 1,838 of its total 3,150 allocations across the NSNP and the AIP.
Nova Scotia still has 1,312 immigration spots available for 2025, despite rising demand for its programs. As of August 6, 2025, the province has already filled 1,838 of its total 3,150 allocations across the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). This year鈥檚 quota is 50% lower than in 2024, following cuts by the federal government.
Meanwhile, the province is managing a significant backlog of 9,774 Expression of Interest (EOI) that are still waiting to be processed.

- The numbers for the Labour Market Priorities Stream and the Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot have not yet been disclosed
- According to the Nova Scotia government, the demand is particularly strong in the Skilled Worker and Experience: Express Entry categories under the NSNP
- The province also further explained that its decision-making on the priority of which application to process includes factors like:
- Labour market needs (especially healthcare and construction)
- Regional workforce demands
- Quality and timing of applications
- Remaining allocations
- Likelihood of long-term settlement in Nova Scotia
*Nova Scotia has yet to reveal its data on how many selections done so far in 2025 are under NSNP nominations vs AIP endorsements.

Latest Updates to Nova Scotia Immigration Program
In July 2025, Nova Scotia announced that it would give priority to:
- Workers already in the province whose permits are expiring this year
- Candidates employed in Healthcare and Social Assistance (NAICS 62) and Construction (NAICS 23)
For applicants outside Nova Scotia, priority would be given to those in healthcare, social assistance, and construction. However, some exceptions are being made for employers hiring in:
- Trucking
- Science nd technology
- Clean Energy
- Resource development
The current processing time for AIP applications is approximately 13 months
