Frequently Asked Questions

Does scoring 6 points on the Opportunity Card guarantee that my visa will actually get approved?

No, 6 points only makes you eligible to apply. The final approval still depends on your documents, qualification recognition, financial proof and how credible your overall profile looks to the visa officer.

My university has H+ status in ANABIN but my exact degree title is not listed, will I still get recognition points?

No, you won't get points automatically in that case. You will need to apply for a Statement of Comparability from ZAB which takes around 2 to 4 months and costs approximately EUR 200 to confirm your specific degree.

Why can't I just show my Indian savings account balance instead of opening a blocked account for the financial requirement?

Because a regular savings account lets you withdraw everything at once, which German authorities don't accept. The blocked account guarantees you have EUR 1,091 available every month throughout your 12 month stay.

If both my spouse and I qualify for the Opportunity Card separately, can we apply as a couple and share one blocked account between us?

No, each person must have their own individual blocked account with the full EUR 13,092 deposited in their own name. There is absolutely no option to combine or share financial proof between two applicants.
